Common Mistakes When Using Vitamin C Serum

The concentration affects when and how often you should use vitamin C serum:

  • 10-15% concentration: Gentle enough for daily use, morning and night
  • 15-20% concentration: Best for morning use, daily
  • 20%+ concentration: Start with once daily (morning preferred), increase gradually

Common Mistakes When Using Vitamin C Serum

1. Applying Vitamin C Serum After Moisturizer

Always apply vitamin C serum to clean, dry skin before heavier products. Serums penetrate better on bare skin.

2. Skipping Sunscreen After Morning Application

Vitamin C enhances but doesn't replace sunscreen. Always wear SPF 30 or higher when using vitamin C serum during the day.

3. Using Expired or Oxidized Serum

If your vitamin C serum has turned brown or orange, it's oxidized and won't work effectively. Store it in a cool, dark place and use within 3-6 months of opening.

4. Applying Too Much Product

More isn't better. 3-5 drops of vitamin C serum is enough for your entire face and neck.
