Hyaluronic Acid 101: What It Is and Why Your Skin Loves It
June 8, 2026
The hydration hero in nearly every serum — here's what hyaluronic acid actually does and how to use it the right way.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a molecule your body already makes. It can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, which is why it's the go-to ingredient for plump, dewy skin.
How to use it
Apply HA to damp skin, then lock it in with a moisturiser. On its own in very dry air it can pull moisture from your skin instead of the environment — so the moisturiser step matters.
It plays well with almost everything, including retinol and vitamin C, making it one of the easiest actives to add to any routine.
